La Cebollita is not just any Mexican grill—it is a family-owned restaurant where every bite is guaranteed fresh.

cebollitatampiquienaEstablished in 2006, La Cebollita was founded by a family from Mexico City. It was later sold to Chef Jose Manuel Tolentino.

Still the owner, Torentino continues to use many of the restaurant’s original recipes.

Not only are they unique, Tolentino and his employees make sure that all the ingredients are kept fresh so that every meal is of the highest possible quality.

“Our life-long passion was to own our own restaurant, and we serve our passion in every dish we cook,” he said.

Some of the house specialties are the tamales — which are said by many customers to be some of the best in the Pilsen — striped stake tacos, and the tampiqueña. Guests can also enjoy their favorite drinks, as La Cebollita is one of the only restaurants in the area licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
